A profile of the new CESES President

Then and Now: 25 Years of CESES

When CESES was founded in 2000, it was little more than a handful of organisations, united by a shared purpose and the encouragement of European programmes. There was no secretariat, no social media presence, and only a few members finding their way in a new network.

Fast forward 25 years, and the picture looks very different. CESES today counts 20 members across Europe, supported by a dedicated secretariat that helps the network function smoothly. We have a voice online, sharing our work and stories with a wider audience, and we continue to grow in both reach and ambition.

None of this would be possible without our members. Each brings unique strengths, perspectives, and traditions, and together they form the foundation of CESES. Their commitment, cooperation, and openness to share knowledge have made the network what it is today.

What hasn’t changed is the spirit: the belief that experience matters, that collaboration strengthens us, and that knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied.

From those first steps in 2000 to the CESES of today, the journey has been one of growth, connection, and resilience — and it’s far from over. We look forward to building on this legacy, welcoming new opportunities, and continuing to shape the future of senior expertise together.
