Today at the Golden League conference, “Life as in an Adventure Movie,” we gathered to explore how we can better include citizens aged 50+ in all aspects of society — from employment and policy to community life, senior volunteering, and active ageing.
The day began with heartfelt opening remarks from our President Dora Bandín Abad, followed by a keynote address from Executive Director Ismael Paez Civico, who underlined the importance of unlocking the potential of older adults through intergenerational cooperation and meaningful civic engagement.
We listened to some powerful insights from Liisa-Maria Lees (Head of Human Resources and Administration Division at Swedbank), Peep Peterson (former Minister of Health and Labor), Henn Pärn (former National Conciliator), and Antti Harjuoja (founder of Nextmile OY). The conversations shed light on the importance of inclusive practices, the value of life-long skills, and how senior volunteering contributes not just to communities — but to the well-being and continued personal development of older adults themselves.
At CESES, we believe active ageing is not just about staying busy, but about staying engaged, connected, and empowered. Today’s discussions reaffirmed the power of senior expert volunteers in building more inclusive, compassionate, and resilient societies for all.
